Data on the rate of unemployment.
The
procedure described in
this note
was instrumental to the construction of a data-set
utilised in a paper I wrote with G.
Mastromatteo and
G. Verga (see below). For editorial reasons,
however, the note had to be withdrawn from that
text.
Recently this procedure has been
taken up again to construct some of the data
contained in the book «150 anni di statistiche
italiane: Nord e Sud 1861-2011», edited by Svimez,
and published by Il Mulino, 2011 (see
